Hello all,
and welcome to Black History; past, present,and future :)

I would like to thank everyone for coming and being a part of, what I hope to be, a very transcending experience. I have no agenda and pray that I will be guided by a force far greater than me; as I serve as a vehicle for light, understanding, and knowledge…a guide to the past, a moderator of the present, and a builder of the future.

This tribe could be a foundation for a new brighter tomorrow.

I specifically reached out to most of you because of being acquainted with you in other tribes or seeing your posts and felt a certain kinship, a comradely relationship with each of you… even though, we might not always agree; I think it’s important to get as many educated perspectives and view points as possible as we build a consensus of, what could possibly be a blue print of the next movement of our people.

I would like to mention that Black/White/Red/Yellow and referring to these as people is quite arbitrary and these are Labels that tend to separate us and bring conflict ...And just want to say right off, that we are part of the human race and even bigger than that, life itself …plants, animals, sun, moon and stars, etc…

This is not a place to beat up our Other brothers and sisters, and how since time began were a mixture far greater than we think so the word “Black “here and also White are used just as a title given for general purposes, to define more so a culture and heritage than our pigmentation.

And hopefully all will understand the terms of "The White Man" used in this context here also.

This is Our tribe…

Feel free to discus, debate, post articles, shoot the breeze, whatever...I want this to be a place where you feel comfortable and relaxed to speak freely…

*The only thing I ask is that we stay away from Ad Hominem arguments; personal insults. Its been my experience that these can take on a life of their own…I think if we stay away from inflammatory statements and personal attacks we’ll be fine ;)

and also the use of cuss words sparingly (I think all of us here can be more creative)

Our history covers so much

The study of our African heritage is so large and covers so much that it’s impossible to give a complete history. There are so many regions, tribes and imperialist crossovers that the sheer diversity of prevailing cultures would seem overwhelming if we didn't follow a set of familiar themes and focus.

Within this context here; there is no single authoritative tradition to refer to as a guide.
Each ethnic group (or "tribe") has its own distinct language, culture, and religion, and it is estimated that Nigeria alone has over four-hundred and fifty distinct ethnic groups and languages. It is not possible under these circumstances to make hard generalizations about our history.

As I begin this tribe I will be posting many resources and many articles (this is a personal research project for me), I don’t want to overwhelm anyone. So just go ahead and add something if you like, if not post around them with discussions, and current issues if not interested.

I will be using many tools and articles off the Internet and if some reason the authors or links weren’t posted just send me a note and I will forward you the sources.

I have very little knowledge on the history of our people.

I am here to search out the truth and connect the dots... there may be many articles or view points which contradict one another or later to be see as unfounded, conflicts with our religion or beliefs and what we’ve been taught. Please do not take it to heart, how we get better and learn is through our differences, conflicts, and challenges.

This is the time to speak our opinions and lift up our voice.

There’s not one person who I invited that didn’t come, I believe that this tribe has a Synchronistic Purpose, even the tribe photos just seem to come…

The current photo called “In the Sun”…was a powerful spiritual force and served as a becon to bring us together...and with the help of Maya Angelou, it just all seemed to flow together.

The out come of this might get turn into…something bigger than we could imagine.

I would like to leave you with a wonderful message from Osho that speaks of perhaps the tribe’s mission and hopes…

We are the world

Black History is depicted here as a rainbow of beings, dancing around the mandala of the earth with their hands joined together in joy and gratitude for the gift of life. This represents a time of communication, of sharing the riches that each of us brings to the whole.

There is no clinging here, no grasping. It is a circle without fear of feelings of inferiority and superiority.

When we recognize the common source of our humanity, the common origins of our dreams and longings, our hopes and fears, we are able to see that we are all joined together in the great miracle of existence. When we can combine our tremendous inner wealth to create a treasure of love and wisdom that is available to all, we are linked together in the exquisite pattern of eternal creation.

When thousands and thousands of people around the earth are celebrating, singing, dancing, ecstatic, drunk with the divine, there is no possibility of any global suicide.
With such festivity and with such laughter, with such sanity and health, with such naturalness and spontaneity, how can there be a war or conflict of the races?... Life has been given to you to create, and to rejoice, and to celebrate.

When you cry and weep, when you are miserable, you are alone. When you celebrate, the whole existence participates with you. Only in celebration do we meet the ultimate, the eternal. Only in celebration do we go beyond the circle of birth and death.
